Nope — Kubiak didn't bench them long-term or cut anyone. Here's what actually happened:
- During Friday practice, Crosby hit Cousins' arm twice in a team period. Cousins grabbed Crosby's jersey and got in his face before teammates broke it up (from the Kirk Cousins page).
- On Saturday, Kubiak held both players out of 11-on-11 drills as a disciplinary measure — they did individual work on the side. Kubiak said he has "clear expectations on how we want to practice" and both players violated those standards.
- Cousins is expected back to full participation by Monday.
So it was a one-day cooling-off benching, not a demotion. Kubiak enforced accountability, made his point, and they're moving on. Neither player is in danger of losing their roster spot or starting role over this.
