Unlikely, according to the latest reporting. Even though Aaron Donald officially unretired on August 30 and signed a 1-year, $20 million deal with the Rams, ESPN's Dan Graziano reported on September 2 that his Week 1 debut is uncertain at best, saying "a week two or three debut looks more likely than week one" (from the Aaron Donald page).
A few things working against it:
- The Rams are easing him in — they're managing his snap counts carefully with the Super Bowl as the goal, not rushing for Week 1.
- L.A. plans to arrive in Australia just one day before the game, while the 49ers are arriving 9 days early — making Donald's game-readiness timeline even tighter.
- He hasn't played a meaningful snap since the 2023 season, so getting up to speed after two years off takes time.
So don't count on seeing #99 out there in Melbourne. A Week 2 or 3 debut is the more realistic bet.
