2026 Outlook
McConkey finished 2025 as WR27 overall and WR36 in points per game—a significant step back for a player entering a new system with many moving parts. The Chargers added offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel and improved their offensive line, which could help McConkey. However, the team also dramatically expanded the receiving corps in ways that threaten his target share: drafted speedster Brenen Thompson, added David Njoku at TE, and signed explosive RB Keaton Mitchell to back up Omarion Hampton. All of these additions create "mouths to feed" in the McDaniel system.
Last season (2025), McConkey's target share was 17.7% when Hampton was on the field (3rd on team), but from Weeks 10-17 it cratered to just 12.2% (tied for 4th with Keenan Allen, behind Hampton, Quentin Johnston, and Oronde Gadsden II). This split suggests McConkey's value is heavily dependent on Hampton's health and snap count—something difficult to predict for fantasy purposes.
While McDaniel's arrival is a positive (he engineered three consecutive league-leading passing-yards seasons with Tagovailoa in Miami), the expanded weapons and committee make McConkey's WR17 ADP questionable. Expert consensus suggests he should rank closer to WR24 than WR12 for 2026 (per 4 Fantasy Football Busts to Avoid (2026)).
Role / Depth Chart
WR2/slot in a crowded Chargers offense. Target share at risk from Hampton, Johnston, Gadsden, Njoku, and the addition of Thompson.
