Hankerson enters his sixth season with the 49ers, and first as passing game coordinator/wide receivers, after spending the previous five seasons (2021-25) with the team as wide receivers/passing game specialist (2025), wide receivers coach (2022-24) and offensive quality control (2021).
Prior to coaching in the NFL, Hankerson spent four seasons (2017-20) coaching in the collegiate ranks, serving as wide receivers coach at Stephen F. Austin State University (2019-20) and the University of Massachusetts (2018). He also served one season (2017) as a graduate assistant at Massachusetts. Hankerson began his coaching career at Palmer Trinity School (Miami, FL) in 2016 as the school's wide receivers/tight ends coach.
