Kyle Shanahan

Head Coach, San Francisco 49ers (SF).

Quick Facts

Background

Kyle Shanahan was named the 20th head coach of the San Francisco 49ers on February 6, 2017. Shanahan signed a multi-year contract extension with the 49ers in September of 2023.

The 2024 San Francisco 49ers saw DL Nick Bosa, FB Kyle Juszczyk, TE George Kittle and LB Fred Warner selected to the Pro Bowl, with Warner earning Associated Press First-Team All-Pro and Juszczyk and Kittle earning Second-Team All-Pro honors. Shanahan again led a top offense in 2024 by directing a unit that finished in the top five in the NFL in yards per game (376.3 - fourth) for the fifth time in his tenure with the 49ers. San Francisco's offense was led by the receiving duo of WR Jauan Jennings and Kittle. Jennings finished the season with career highs in receptions (77), receiving yards (975) and receiving touchdowns (six), while Kittle led the team in receptions (78), receiving yards (1,106) and receiving touchdowns (eight). Kittle's 1,106 receiving yards marked his second-consecutive and fourth overall season with 1,000-or-more receiving yards, marking the third-most seasons in franchise history with at least 1,000 receiving yards and making him one of five tight ends in NFL history to register four such seasons in a career.

Scheme & Fantasy Angle

Shanahan's wide-zone, play-action offense has finished top-five in yards per game in five of his San Francisco seasons, making it one of the league's most fantasy-friendly systems for backs, receivers, and especially the tight end.
