Kyler Murray is day-to-day for Week 2 against the Bears and it's genuinely uncertain whether he'll play. Here's the situation:
- He suffered a concussion in the first quarter of Week 1 (Sept 16) against Green Bay and didn't return.
- He logged a limited practice on Wednesday and is working through the NFL's five-step concussion protocol.
- Coach Kevin O'Connell said if Murray clears protocol, the veteran wouldn't need heavy practice participation to start given his reps from the QB competition and preseason — so a light practice week doesn't automatically rule him out. (from the Kyler Murray page)
On Underdog Fantasy Football, Josh & Hayden noted that as of their Week 2 analysis, "Carson Wentz is now the starting quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings. Kyler Murray is in the concussion protocol." And Establish The Run said, "I would consider Kyler week to week for now… Carson Wentz, not J.J. McCarthy, comes in." ()
Bottom line: If Murray clears concussion protocol by Sunday, O'Connell may let him start with limited practice. If not, Carson Wentz will get the nod. Check the final injury report on Friday for the official designation.
