After the Panthers fired Ejiro Evero on October 30, 2026 following a 3-4 start (with the defense ranked 27th in points allowed and 32nd in rush yards allowed), the team promoted Todd Wash as interim defensive coordinator (from the Ejiro Evero page).
Wash brings serious pedigree — he was a key figure in Jacksonville's legendary 2017 "Sacksonville" defense and has 19 seasons of NFL coaching experience. According to the Jaelan Phillips page, his return to the DC role is expected to simplify the defense's pre-snap complexity and could help stabilize a unit that's struggled despite heavy investment.
