He still can't lock down the starting job. Despite an encouraging "aura" narrative early in OTAs, Sanders enters training camp in a deadlocked QB competition with Deshaun Watson — and ESPN's Jeremy Fowler views Watson as having the inside track (from the Shedeur Sanders page). On the final day of mandatory minicamp (June 11), Sanders actually worked mostly with the second-team offense after getting first-team reps the day before — a subtle step backward.
His rookie stats were mediocre — 1,400 yards, 7 TDs, 10 INTs in 7 starts. That negative TD-to-INT ratio is rough for a QB trying to convince a new coaching staff he's the guy.
The whole Browns offense is shaky.
