MIA Kyle McCord
NFL player. Position: QB. Team: MIA.
Quick Facts
- Position: QB
- Team: MIA (Miami Dolphins)
2026 Outlook
Second-year backup quarterback traded to Miami on Aug 30. Originally drafted by Philadelphia in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, McCord bounced to Green Bay before the 2026 season, then to Miami in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round pick. As a collegian at Ohio State and Syracuse, he was one of college football's most productive passers—throwing for 4,779 yards and 34 TDs at Syracuse in 2024 with 66% completion rate. In Miami, McCord reunites with passing-game coordinator Kevin Patullo, who worked with him in Philadelphia. McCord's polished mechanics and pre-snap recognition fit Malik Willis's backup role. He won the Dolphins' QB2 competition by earning the trade, beating out Quinn Ewers (traded to Jacksonville) and Cam Miller (waived). McCord's ceiling is backup insurance—he's unlikely to see meaningful playing time unless Willis is injured. (per Kyle McCord trade grades: Dolphins acquire QB depth from familiar face in Green Bay)
Week 1 ready: Head coach Hafley said McCord has "learned the offense well enough to be functional if needed," noting the team has "confidence he can go in the game and run our offense." Hafley praised McCord's grasp of the system after extra work (7-on-7s and additional study sessions), suggesting McCord is game-ready as a contingency (per Dolphins' Hafley updates injuries, other issues. And Bell on where he stands).
Role / Depth Chart
