DeMarcus Lawrence announced on August 14, 2026 that the 2026 NFL season will be his last. The veteran edge rusher told ESPN's Jori Epstein of his retirement plans heading into what he considers his final chance to defend the Seahawks' Super Bowl LX championship crown. Lawrence, signed as an undrafted free agent by Seattle last offseason, had an outstanding first season with the Seahawks—he started all 16 games he was available for, recorded 53 total tackles, 6 sacks, and most memorably scored two historic fumble return touchdowns in the same game against Arizona. The Seahawks' defense was dominant en route to winning Super Bowl LX on the 49ers' home turf in Santa Clara.
