Wide Receivers, New England Patriots (NE).

Quick Facts

Background

Todd Downing joins the Patriots as wide receivers coach in 2025 after two seasons with the New York Jets as passing game coordinator, adding quarterbacks coach in 2024. He spent four seasons in Tennessee as tight ends coach (2019-20) and offensive coordinator (2021-22) under Mike Vrabel, and has three years total as an offensive coordinator, first with the Oakland Raiders in 2017. With the Jets, he helped develop WR Garrett Wilson to back-to-back career-best seasons and supported a 1,000-yard year from WR Davante Adams. Earlier stops include quarterbacks coach roles with Buffalo and Detroit, where he helped QB Matthew Stafford to a 5,000-yard, 41-touchdown season in 2011.

Scheme & Fantasy Angle

Downing has a strong history of developing fantasy-relevant wide receivers and productive passing attacks; his work with the Patriots receiver room is a key input for projecting their target distribution.
