Background
Rod Wright enters his third season with the Houston Texans and second as the team's defensive line coach after originally joining the club as the assistant defensive line coach in 2023. He owns 13 years of collegiate coaching experience. His 2024 defensive line, led by DE Danielle Hunter and DE Will Anderson Jr., helped Houston set a single-season franchise record with 49.0 sacks, with Hunter and Anderson becoming the first tandem in the league to each post double-digit sacks that year. Before Houston he coached the defensive ends at Miami (2022) and spent 2019-21 at UTSA, including a stint as co-defensive coordinator.
Scheme & Fantasy Angle
Wright coaches a dominant, sack-producing defensive line headlined by Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson Jr., a primary driver of the Texans' defense/special-teams fantasy output through sacks and pressures.
