Background
Kevin O'Connell was named the 10th head coach in Minnesota Vikings history on Feb. 16, 2022, after serving as the offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams during the 2020-21 seasons. He signed a multi-year contract extension with the Vikings in January of 2025. O'Connell, who was named the 2024 Associated Press Coach of the Year, led the Vikings to a 14-3 regular-season record and playoff appearance in 2024, the second-most wins in team history. He became the first head coach in NFL history since at least 1950 to win at least 14 games in a season with a quarterback who was in his first year with a team.
Scheme & Fantasy Angle
O'Connell runs an offense rooted in his Rams background that finished ninth in scoring (25.4 points per game) and seventh in passing offense (237.8 yards per game) in 2024, a pass-leaning system that supports strong fantasy production from his skill players.
