John Timu was named an Atlanta Falcons defensive assistant on Feb. 3, 2024. In 2024 he helped the Falcons pass rush register 31 sacks. Timu joined Atlanta after three seasons (2021-23) with the Los Angeles Chargers in roles including assistant defensive line coach, where he helped coach edge rusher Khalil Mack to a 17-sack season and developed rookie Tuli Tuipulotu. He was a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Washington (2019-20), and played three NFL seasons at linebacker for the Chicago Bears.
