Not quite — the Cowboys' RB2 job is very much up for grabs right now. Javonte Williams is locked in as the feature back (from the Javonte Williams page), but the competition behind him is wide open.
Here's where it stands per the wiki (June 4 update):
- Malik Davis has early momentum thanks to a strong 103-yard fill-in game last season
- Jaydon Blue (second-year, fifth-round pick) and Phil Mafah (now fully healthy) are also in the mix
- The team has made finding a "legitimate complement" a stated priority to keep Williams fresh after a career-high 287 carries in 2025
So Malik Davis is definitely in the conversation and has a leg up on the competition, but he hasn't locked up the No. 2 role yet — it's a battle that'll shake out over OTAs and camp (from the Javonte Williams and Dallas Cowboys pages).
