# Drew Lock NFL player. Position: **QB**. Team: **SEA**. ## Quick Facts - **Position:** QB - **Team:** SEA (Seattle Seahawks) ## 2026 Outlook Lock enters Week 1 as the starting QB for Seattle after Sam Darnold suffered a hip injury in the first quarter against the Patriots. Lock has prior Seattle experience (2023) and returns as backup QB for the defending Super Bowl champions. Over his career, Lock has earned 28 starts with a 10-18 record, throwing for 6,369 yards with 34 touchdowns and 28 interceptions. With the Seahawks' run-first offensive system (3rd in rushing attempts) and established receiving corps (JSN), Lock will need to manage the game effectively rather than put up big volume stats. Short-term opportunity for fantasy relevance only if Darnold's injury lingers beyond the Week 1 game (per Sam Darnold ruled out with hip injury after only one drive, replaced by Drew Lock). **Week 1 performance (Sept 10):** Lock stepped in with zero preparation after Darnold's first-drive exit and led the Seahawks to a 13-10 upset victory over the Patriots. He completed 16 of 22 passes for an impressive 113.3 passer rating, displaying command of the offense and throwing a 45-yard TD pass to JSN. Lock's efficiency, confidence and swagger impressed the locker room—S Julian Love noted afterward that they've "all been saying Drew has been the best two [backup quarterback] in the NFL for years." Lock's poise in an emergency situation showcases his ability as a capable starter, and the Seahawks' defense has been so strong that coach Macdonald didn't express concerns about Darnold's absence beyond the personal toll, setting up Lock for extended reps if Darnold's hip injury lingers (per Seahawks' positive news on Sam Darnold injury. But they aren't in the clear yet, High-profile injuries already adding up 2 games into the NFL season - WTOP News, and 32 things we learned in NFL Week 1). **Week 2 dominant performance (Sept 18):** Darnold ruled out for Seattle's Week 2 matchup against Arizona, confirming Drew Lock's second consecutive start. Lock delivered an impressive performance: 235 passing yards and 3 TDs in a dominant "shellacking" of Arizona. The back-to-back strong games cemented Lock's standing as a capable starter if Darnold's injury lingers. Locker room continues to view him as the "best two backup quarterback in the NFL," per safety Julian Love: "He's such a leader. He makes plays all the time in practice. ... We have so much belief" (per Ranking every NFL backup quarterback after wave of injuries - USA Today). ## Role / Depth Chart Backup QB, promoted to starter for Week 1 after Darnold's injury. ## Injury Status Healthy. ## Recent News - 2026-09-14 — 32 things we learned in NFL Week 1 − just don't ask who the best team is right now (32 things we learned in NFL Week 1 − just don't ask who the best team is right now) - 2026-09-14 — Ten Things We Learned From Week 1 (Fantasy Football) (Ten Things We Learned From Week 1 (Fantasy Football)) - 2026-09-14 — Fantasy football waiver wire FAAB Week 2: Tyler Shough, Bryce Young lead QB adds (Fantasy football waiver wire FAAB Week 2: Tyler Shough, Bryce Young lead QB adds) - 2026-09-10 — The best two in the NFL': Backup quarterback Drew Lock rewards Seahawks' faith (The best two in the NFL': Backup quarterback Drew Lock rewards Seahawks' faith) - 2026-09-11 — Seahawks confident in QB Drew Lock amid Sam Darnold's injury (Seahawks confident in QB Drew Lock amid Sam Darnold's injury) - 2026-09-16 — NFL Week 2 latest intel, buzz questions, news, fantasy tips (NFL Week 2 latest intel, buzz questions, news, fantasy tips) - 2026-09-14 — Week 2 Waiver Wire Pickups | FAAB Guide & Deep Sleepers (Week 2 Waiver Wire Pickups ) - 2026-09-16 — Sam Darnold injury update for Seahawks' NFL Week 2 game vs Cardinals (Sam Darnold injury update for Seahawks' NFL Week 2 game vs Cardinals) - 2026-09-16 — Seahawks rule out Sam Darnold for Week 2, don't plan to put QB on IR; Drew Lock to...
