# Who replaces Lane Johnson at right tackle for the Eagles?

After Lane Johnson's sudden retirement in Week 4, the Eagles turned to **rookie Markel Bell** — a 6'9", 346-lb third-round pick from Miami who started in Johnson's Week 4 absence and is considered the likely successor (from the Lane Johnson and Markel Bell pages). Bell impressed in preseason with his power, driving a defender 6 yards off the line in his first start.

That said, the spot isn't locked down yet. **Fred Johnson** (the veteran swing tackle) and **Drew Kendall** (a 7th-rounder from 2025 who's shown growth) are also competing for the role — though Fred Johnson was dealing with a knee injury in Week 3, which may have opened the door wider for Bell.
